At Pier Point Bar & Restaurant, regenerative tourism is not just a concept — it’s a responsibility we embrace wholeheartedly. We’re proud to go beyond sustainability by creating meaningful, long-lasting benefits for our environment, our community, and our local economy, ensuring tourism contributes positively to Torbay for generations to come.
Our commitment to environmental responsibility starts with the food we serve. We champion responsibly sourced seafood and make conscious decisions to only include sustainable fish on our menu. By participating in initiatives like England’s Seafood Feast and National Fish & Chip Day, we introduce our customers to lesser-known species through free tasters, encouraging more sustainable consumption habits and reducing pressure on overfished stocks.
We are also proud members of One Planet One Plate and the Sustainable Restaurant Association, aligning our practices with wider efforts to create a fairer, more sustainable food system. These partnerships help guide our sourcing, reduce our environmental footprint, and promote responsible operations across our supply chain.
In 2023–24, we raised over £6,400 for Rowcroft Hospice through engaging community initiatives such as a skydiving challenge, Invisible Chips (which in turn led to the Dine and Donate initiative), Ladies’ Night, and a beautifully illustrated tea towel designed by a local artist. These efforts brought people together, inspired other businesses, and demonstrated how hospitality can lead social change.
We’re proud supporters of Torbay Pride and the Fishermen’s Mission — using our platform to raise awareness, foster inclusion, and contribute to those who protect both our people and our maritime heritage.
We also work hard to support a resilient local economy. By partnering with regional artisan producers, we’ve introduced a curated selection of local award-winning drinks, alongside a growing range of zero-alcohol alternatives. These additions reflect our responsiveness to customer feedback and our drive to support small businesses across the South West.
Our people are at the heart of it all. We invest in their development, nurture a culture of inclusivity, and are actively working toward becoming an Employee Ownership Trust — ensuring that the benefits of tourism flow directly back to the team who create our guest experience every day.
And our efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Pier Point has been shortlisted and awarded in prestigious national hospitality and tourism awards, helping to shine a spotlight on the English Riviera and proudly putting Torbay on the map as a destination that excels in quality, innovation, and responsibility.
Pier Point is more than a seafront restaurant — we’re a living example of how tourism can regenerate pride in place, uplift communities, and leave a lasting positive legacy.
