That’s why we’re proud to support the Fishermen’s Mission, a charity that provides critical welfare and support to the UK’s fishing communities.
The Fishermen’s Mission does amazing work, offering help to fishermen and their families, often in times of real hardship. It’s more than just a charity – it’s a lifeline for those who risk their lives daily to provide the seafood we all love. Here’s why we choose to support them and how you can get involved in our efforts.
Supporting with Every Bite: 7 Chefs, England’s Seafood Coast, and National Fish & Chip Day
We believe in giving back, and one of the ways we do that is by donating the income from special events like the 7 Chefs of England’s Seafood Coast. Every year, we come together with other local chefs to create mouth-watering seafood dishes, and all the proceeds from this event go directly to the Fishermen’s Mission. It’s our way of celebrating the incredible fish our local waters provide, while giving back to the people who make it all possible. Last year collectively we raised £3,348.35 !
On National Fish & Chip Day, we raise both money and awareness for the Mission. As one of the country’s top fish and chip restaurants, it’s a cause that’s especially meaningful to us. Fish and chips may be a British classic, but behind every delicious bite is the tireless work of fishermen who face dangerous conditions to bring that fish to our shores. That’s why we make it our mission to support them on this important day.
Champion Supper Collaboration – Tuesday 8th October
This year, we’re taking things to the next level with a very special event as part of England’s Seafood Feast. On Tuesday 8th October, Pier Point is teaming up with Knights of Glastonbury, the current No. 1 Best Fish & Chip Restaurant of the Year, for a Champion Supper collaboration, with all proceeds going to the Fishermen’s Mission. As Pier Point is currently ranked No. 2, this event promises to be an evening of the finest fish and chips you’ve ever tasted, with two of the best fish and chip restaurants in the country coming together for one fantastic cause.
Not only will you enjoy incredible food, but you’ll also have the opportunity to meet Albert the Mascot, who will be there to bring some fun and raise awareness for the Fishermen’s Mission. Albert is a beloved figure and a great reminder of the importance of the work the Mission does for our fishing communities.
Why the Fishermen’s Mission Matters
For many, fishing is not just a job – it’s a way of life. But it’s also one of the most dangerous professions in the UK, with fishermen facing extreme weather, long hours, and physical exhaustion. When accidents or tragedies occur, the Fishermen’s Mission is there to offer immediate and long-term support to fishermen and their families, whether through emergency grants, emotional support, or practical help like accommodation and financial aid.
By supporting the Fishermen’s Mission, we’re standing with the men and women who risk their lives to bring the freshest fish to our plates. We’re helping ensure that they and their families have access to the care and assistance they need when times get tough.
