Happy New Year from Pier Point
Reflecting on an incredible 2025 – and looking ahead to 2026
As we welcome the New Year, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary 2025 at Pier Point Bar & Restaurant and to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey.
First and foremost, our thanks go to our incredible team. Led day-to-day by James, Aaron, Tony and Kelly, and guided by the vision and passion of owner Lorraine Arnold, the commitment, care and hard work shown throughout the year has been nothing short of exceptional. Pier Point is what it is because of its people.
Highlights from 2025
The past year has been one of recognition, celebration and community impact.
We were incredibly proud to be ranked among the Top 10 Restaurants and Top 50 Takeaways at the Fry Awards, alongside being named Top 3 for Contribution to the Community and Top 5 Restaurant of the Year in England at the National Federation of Fish Friers awards.
Our food and consistency were recognised again with our third consecutive Good Food Award, another Gold award from Taste of the West, and Bronze in the Restaurant & Casual Dining category at the Devon Tourism Awards. Nationally, we were humbled to feature in major press including The Sun, The Mirror, Daily Mail and The Times and Sunday Times, which ranked us number one for fish and chips.
Community remains at the heart of everything we do. Through our Invisible Chips initiative and other fundraising efforts, we raised over £10,000 for charity, including more than £5,000 with invisible chips alone, supporting causes such as Rowcroft Hospice and The Fishermen’s Mission. We were proud to support Torbay Pride as headline sponsor again, work alongside Fishermen’s Mission, Wetwheels Torbay and many other local initiatives.
We also marked some special milestones, including our fifth birthdayVE Day 80, and 10th National Fish & Chip Day, while welcoming familiar faces and special guests through our doors along the way.
Looking beyond hospitality, we were delighted to become a Business Boost sponsor for Brendon Prince and the ICF SUP World Cup 2026, supporting local sport, wellbeing and the wider Torbay community.
A well-earned pause
After such a full and rewarding year, we will be closed for a short period in January. This time allows us to carry out essential maintenance, prepare for the 2026 season, and most importantly, give our brilliant team a well-earned break and a chance to celebrate together.
We will reopen on Friday 23 January 2026, refreshed, recharged and ready for the year ahead.
Looking ahead
As we move into 2026, our focus remains on what matters most: investing in our people, maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect, and continuing to play an active role in our community.
To everyone who has dined with us, worked alongside us, supported us, or cheered us on from afar – thank you. Your support means more than we can say.
We wish you a very Happy New Year and look forward to welcoming you back to Pier Point soon.
With sincere thanks,
The Pier Point Team
